DJI Neo 3 Unboxing Leak: Three Batteries, a Nose Screen and the Slotted Battery Tops

A 49-second unboxing video of the DJI Neo 3 leaked on 6 October 2026, and it answers questions the retail box could not: what is actually inside the Fly More-style kit, how many batteries you get, and what the slotted battery tops look like in real life. DJI has not announced the drone, so treat everything here as a leak, but this is the first time the hardware has been shown in hand rather than on a box or a spec sheet.

Below is what the clip shows, what it confirms from earlier leaks, and what it still does not tell you.

Quick answer: what the Neo 3 unboxing shows

Where the video came from

The clip was posted to X by DroneXL writer Jasper Ellens on the morning of 6 October. He said it first appeared on TikTok and that a friend saved a copy before it was taken down. That is a common path for DJI leaks, and the hardware in the video matches the retail box and the marketing sheet that leaked in late September and early October. It is not confirmation from DJI.

The battery slots are real

The most discussed detail is on the batteries. Each one has rows of black slots across its top, plus four status LEDs and a button to check the charge level. In September there was doubt about whether DJI would ship batteries that look like that; the video settles it, at least for this kit.

What the slots are for is still unknown. They could be vents, a grip texture or simply styling. The video does not show the battery capacity, so flight time is still an open question.

A small screen on the nose

Close-up shots show a small rectangular screen on the front of the aircraft, behind the gimbal, glowing blue. Nothing in the leak explains what it displays. It could be a status or framing aid for selfie shots, which is how the Neo line is mostly used, but that is a guess until DJI says so.

The airframe also has sensor windows at the rear, under the body, in a slit at the nose and on the arms. That fits the omnidirectional obstacle sensing listed on the leaked marketing sheet.

What the leaks now agree on

At 192.7 g the Neo 3 stays under the 250 g line, so recreational US pilots would not need to register it. Compared with a Neo 2 fitted with its transceiver, the real weight gain is about 33 g, not 42 g. We work through that in DJI Neo 3 weight, compared properly, and the sensor leak is covered in the Neo 3 sensor and spec sheet leak.

What the video does not tell you

  • Flight time and battery capacity. No label is readable in the clip.
  • What the nose screen shows.
  • Price. Our estimate and the reasoning are in DJI Neo 3 price.
  • Release date. Leaks point to October or November 2026; DJI has said nothing.
  • US availability. The RC Mini has had an FCC grant since 19 December 2025, but the Neo 3 aircraft has none. Without one it cannot be sold in the US.

Will the Neo 3 be sold in the US?

Not as things stand. New DJI drones need FCC equipment authorization, and since 22 December 2025, when the FCC added foreign-made drones and their critical components to its Covered List, new models such as the Neo 3 cannot get it. The RC Mini’s grant came three days before that listing. That is why the Neo 2 launched internationally without a US release. Our US drone ban checker shows which models can still be bought, and the DJI release tracker follows the Neo 3 and other upcoming drones.

Frequently asked questions

What comes in the DJI Neo 3 box?

The leaked unboxing shows the aircraft, the DJI RC Mini remote, three batteries, a two-battery charging hub, a USB-C cable and two sealed bags that are probably spare propellers and a screwdriver. That appears to be a bundle, not necessarily the base kit.

Why do DJI Neo 3 batteries have slots?

The leak shows rows of black slots on top of each battery but does not explain them. Ventilation, grip or styling are all possible.

How much does the DJI Neo 3 weigh?

192.7 g according to leaked production specs, with the transceiver built in.

When is the DJI Neo 3 release date?

DJI has not announced one. Leaks point to October or November 2026.

Can you buy the DJI Neo 3 in the US?

Not unless the FCC authorizes the aircraft. The RC Mini remote has an FCC grant; the drone does not.

Does the DJI Neo 3 need FAA registration?

Not for recreational flying in the US if it weighs 192.7 g as leaked, because it is under 250 g. Commercial Part 107 flights need registration at any weight.
