Genuine DJI Spare Batteries in the US: Which Drones Still Have Them on Amazon (October 2026)

If you own a DJI drone in the US, spare batteries are the part most worth thinking about this autumn. A pending FCC proposal could stop new sales of several DJI models, and DJI itself has warned that official spare parts could become harder to source over time. We checked Amazon US on 12 October 2026 to see which drones still have a genuine DJI-branded battery listed, and which ones are already down to third-party packs.

The short version: Neo, Mini 4 Pro, Mini 3 series, Air 3, Air 3S and Mavic 4 Pro owners can still buy DJI’s own packs there. For the Flip, Neo 2, Mini 5 Pro and Avata 2, the search results are filled with packs from other sellers labelled “original”.

Quick answer

DJI Air 3SYes4,276 mAh, 62.5 WhUnder the 100 Wh airline limit

“Not found” means the Amazon US search for that battery returned no listing from DJI on 12 October. It does not mean the battery is unavailable everywhere; DJI’s own store and authorised dealers are the next places to look.

Why batteries, and why now

Two FCC actions matter here. The Covered List addition of 22 December 2025 already stops new DJI products from getting FCC authorization, which is why nothing new from DJI reaches US shelves. A second proposal, DA 26-758 (PS Docket 26-189), would go further and stop the import and sale of foreign drones the FCC calls “military-grade”, including models that carry a LiDAR sensor. That would catch the Air 3S and Mini 5 Pro, and DJI’s own filing named the Avata 360 too. Comments closed on 2 September 2026, and as of 12 October no decision has been published. If it is adopted as written, sales would stop roughly 180 days after publication.

Neither action stops you flying a drone you already own. The practical risk for owners is supply: if a model stops being imported, dealers stop restocking it, and the batteries and propellers for it go with it. That is the point DJI made in its comments to the FCC. We could not confirm whether spare batteries on their own would count as covered components under the proposal, so treat this as a supply question, not a legal one.

Genuine DJI batteries you can still buy

Genuine DJI packs listed on Amazon US

DJI Neo Intelligent Flight Battery

1,435 mAh, up to 18 min per DJI. Two spares turn one flight into three.

DJI Mini 4 Pro / Mini 3 series battery (standard)

2,590 mAh. Keeps a Mini 4 Pro under 249 g.

DJI Intelligent Flight Battery Plus (Mini 4 Pro / Mini 3 series)

3,850 mAh. Longer flights, but the drone weighs more than 249 g with it, so FAA registration applies.

DJI Air 3S Intelligent Flight Battery

4,276 mAh, 62.5 Wh, up to 45 min per DJI.

DJI Air 3 Intelligent Flight Battery

Up to 46 min per DJI. Not interchangeable with the Air 3S pack.

Before you buy, check two lines on the product page: “Ships from” and “Sold by”. Amazon.com or DJI is what you want. A battery that is “sold by” an unrelated seller is not necessarily fake, but returns and warranty get harder.

Flip, Neo 2, Mini 5 Pro and Avata 2: be careful with “original” listings

For these four drones, the top Amazon US results on 12 October were packs from other brands, several with titles such as “Original 3110mAh Intelligent Flight Battery for DJI Flip”. The byline on those pages points to the seller’s own store, not DJI. Some resellers do pass on genuine DJI stock, but the listing alone does not prove it.

  • Check the brand line under the title. “Visit the DJI Store” is what a DJI listing shows.
  • Compare the capacity with DJI’s figure: Flip 3,110 mAh, Neo 2 1,606 mAh, Mini 5 Pro 2,788 mAh, Avata 2 2,150 mAh. A pack claiming much more (we saw a 5,000 mAh “Mini 5 Pro” listing) is not a DJI part.
  • DJI’s smart batteries talk to the drone. A non-DJI pack may not report charge level or cell health correctly, and DJI’s warranty does not cover damage caused by it.
  • If you want a genuine pack for these models, DJI’s own store or an authorised dealer is the safer route.

We do not link to third-party batteries for that reason.

How many spares to buy

More is not better with lithium batteries. They age even in storage, so a box of six packs bought “just in case” will not be six new batteries in 2028. Two or three spares per drone covers most owners: enough to fly for an hour, and enough to replace a pack that swells or fails.

  • Store them at about half charge. DJI’s packs discharge themselves to a storage level after several days unused; the self-discharge timing can be changed in the DJI Fly app.
  • Charge before a flight, not weeks ahead.
  • Keep them cool and dry. Heat ages lithium cells faster than use does.
  • Flying with them: US airline rules put spare lithium batteries in carry-on only. Packs under 100 Wh, which covers every consumer DJI drone above, need no airline approval.

A charging hub is the other accessory worth having, because it stores and charges three packs at once. DJI lists hubs for the Neo and for the Mini 3 / Mini 4 Pro batteries. For microSD cards and ND filters, our accessories guide lists the cards DJI has tested.

If you are still choosing a drone

Battery supply is a reasonable thing to weigh. Models with no LiDAR, such as the Neo, Mini 4K, Flip, Mini 4 Pro and Avata 2, are not in the scope of the LiDAR proposal as written, so their accessories should stay easier to find. Our Black Friday watchlist tracks those models into November, and which DJI drone to buy compares them by use.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still buy genuine DJI batteries in the US?

Yes, for several models. On 12 October 2026 Amazon US listed DJI’s own packs for the Neo, Mini 4 Pro and Mini 3 series, Air 3, Air 3S and Mavic 4 Pro. For the Flip, Neo 2, Mini 5 Pro and Avata 2 we found only third-party listings there.

Will the FCC ban stop me using my DJI drone?

No. Neither the Covered List nor the pending proposal affects flying a drone you already own. They affect authorization, import and sale.

Does the Battery Plus change FAA rules for the Mini 4 Pro?

Yes. DJI says a Mini 4 Pro or Mini 3 series drone with the Battery Plus weighs more than 249 g, so it must be registered with the FAA even for recreational flying.

Are third-party DJI batteries safe?

Some are, many are unknown. They may not report cell health to the drone correctly, and DJI’s warranty does not cover damage they cause. Check the seller, the brand line and the capacity before buying.

How long do DJI drone batteries last in storage?

DJI does not give a shelf life. Lithium packs lose capacity with age even unused, which is why two or three spares is a better plan than a large stockpile.
